Why Janet Teaches

This is what she
loves most.

Of everything Janet does, teaching Usui Reiki is her greatest passion. Passing on this gift, and watching what happens when people receive their attunement, is what lights her up most. She describes it as helping people remember something that was already in them.

Janet's students often describe their attunement as a turning point. A moment when something clicked into place. Many of them go on to practise Reiki themselves, some joining the wider Amethyst community as practitioners in their own right.

Training is offered at all three levels of Usui Reiki, from complete beginners with no prior experience through to those ready to become Reiki Masters and teachers themselves. Janet guides each student at their own pace.

The Path

Three levels of initiation

Usui Reiki is taught in three distinct levels, each building on the last. You move at your own pace. There is no rush.

I

Reiki Shoden

The foundation. Your first attunement opens the channel between you and universal life energy. You learn the history and principles of Reiki, the hand positions for treating yourself and others, and begin to feel the energy consciously for the first time. This level is the spark.

II

Reiki Okuden

The deepening. At this level you receive the sacred symbols that amplify and direct the energy. You learn distance healing, how to work with emotional and mental patterns, and your ability to channel energy strengthens considerably. This level transforms your practice.

III

Reiki Shinpiden

Third degree Reiki (Shinpiden) is traditionally regarded as the Master level — though initiation does not turn anyone into an enlightened spiritual master. It is a spiritual contract: a commitment to continue evolving. At this stage, further change is inevitable. A two-day course covering the Usui Master symbol, Master self-empowerment meditations, and how to perform the sacred energy attunements that allow you to pass Reiki on to others.

Reiki is not something Janet gives to her students. It is something she helps them uncover. The energy is already there. The attunement is simply the act of remembering it. That is what makes teaching this practice so meaningful to her.

Her mission is to open people to an awareness of their own energy, and the power they hold to harness it. Feeling love and connection. Trusting in something higher. Feeling safe in the world. When you feel the energy, it can be life changing.

No experience needed

You do not need any prior knowledge of Reiki, energy healing or spirituality. All you need is an open mind and a genuine desire to learn. Janet meets every student exactly where they are.

Personal guidance

Training is intimate and personal. Janet works with small numbers to ensure every student receives the attention and support they need. This is not a mass certification course. It is a genuine initiation.

Your own pace

There is no pressure to move from one level to the next quickly. Some people practise Level 1 for years before feeling called to continue. Janet honours wherever you are in your journey.

Join the tribe

Once you have trained with Janet, you become part of the wider Amethyst community. Monthly Reiki shares, ongoing support, and a circle of people walking the same path. You will not be left to practise alone.

Completing your training with Janet does not mean the relationship ends. Many of the people she has trained are now practitioners themselves, some running their own practices. They stay connected through the monthly Reiki shares, where everyone gives and everyone receives.

This is what makes Amethyst Healing Rooms different. It is not just a course. It is the beginning of a path, walked with others who understand where you have been and where you are going.
